IT ALL STARTS HERE
IF YOUR WIRES COME OUT OF THE 4 PORT GREEN PLUG FROM THE TRANSFORMER PLEASE READ THE PLUG NOTES ON THE BACK OF YOUR 511 or 505 as this plug has AC and DC ports DO NOT REFIT WIRES FROM THE TRANSFORMER NEXT TO EACH OTHER AS THIS WILL UPSET YOUR POCKET OR YOUR TRANSFORMER OR BOTH
START WITH GOOD WIRING.
The only way to achieve a good DCC running layout is to use electro frog points and a RING main track bus (power supply) (we have a booklet on point conversion).
FIRST Electro frog points. Must have a frog switch fitted and wired.
SECOND A ring main is the track power supply that runs from a terminal block just outside the controller around the zone that is to be powered or around the whole layout and back to the terminal block. The ring main will run around and pick up the copper tapes which run under the track at 90 degrees to the track, the droppers (the wire from the track to the copper tape) can be smaller than the ring as they will only be 1 in or 25 mm long.
We have proved in the past that layouts that have a ring main do not require expensive gizmos to terminate the wiring and therefore are more cost effective, less work, less cost, and smoother running.
WE can supply ring main cable, copper tape and dropper wire ( by the metre or by the drum)
